Day Thirty Three

I apologize for another late post, last night was a rollercoaster and a lot of people are going to feel the effects of the events for a long time. Hopefully we can look past eachothers shortcomings and remember why we were all there to begin with.

Hey man, you know who you are, I don't know how you feel but I do know that many of the relationships that were shaken last night are too deep and strong to be broken. And with time and understanding, things will be like they were. For you buddy

More wall art for Lena lou! Sharpie on wall.

Day Twenty Nine

In my painting class we were asked to make an 8x10 collage and then enlarge it to 24x30 in a painting. this is the final result of mine. Acrylic on canvas.

Day Twenty Nine

I call it "Faultlines" so like yeah, it's like basically a dialouge like about my life right now... no, I just like the colors.

Day Twenty Eight

Apparently someone who works at Wieden + Kennedy thinks the work that Lucas and I have done for Yeyo Tequila is the shiznit (which is good). Not that I ever thought our work was anything less but if she thinks we have "it," and she should know, then we must have "it." Adobe Illustrator CS4, Adobe Photoshop CS4 and Canon EOS 30D Digital SLR with various lenses. The card will be die cut to leave the punched out logo and rounded opposite corners.

Day Twenty Seven

"No Gahzirrah! You eat enough peepo today!" some words of wisdom for keepin your radioactive marine iguana in line. Tomorrow's art will be better and will most likely be painting because I have a bit of painting to do before Tuesday. I was at the beach all day with Nicole and my parents so the Godzilla drawing was a late night creative workout. Should I post pictures from the trip? Perhaps in the morning, right now is bedsies for me!

Day Twenty Six

I am away from my usual myriad of resources but I am never without my phone. So again, iPhone comes to the rescue. This is a portrait of Cory Meredith. iDoodle 2 iPhone app.

Day Twenty Five

I am officially one third of the way done and only 51 days away from being in Disneyland. Today has been a really long, but really fun day with everything from an Art History test to walking a couple miles to actually going on a date with a very patient girlfriend. The weather was beautiful outside but the scenery inside was even better when the sun hit that old blanket with the dinosaurs. Canon EOS 30D Digital SLR with EF 100mm F2.8 Macro lens.

Day Twenty Three

I spent over eight hours in a car today. Went to bend and back, fished a little, sat a bunch, and saw some wonderful mountains. This one here is Mt. Washington, which, as I learned today at a very informative viewpoint, is 1.2 million years younger than Black Butte. Cool beans, I know. anyway, it was very sunny and clear and the mountain looked wonderful. Canon EOS 30D Digital SLR with 28-135mm F3.5 Canon zoom lens.

Day Twenty Two

This is the beginning of a triptych for my painting class. So far I've spent about two and a half hours on it. Although the pictures won't show the depth of color in each square, when you see it in person it's almost 3D because of the many layers of translucent washes. I'll post the finished piece when I reach that point. Acrylic on 10"x30" canvas.

Day Twenty One

I have a new "favorite" iPhone app. It's called Spawn Illuminati and it's basically an a bunch of colorful lines and curves that interact with your finger movements and taps and does cool random stuff if you leave it alone. This is a screen capture I took after playing with it for a while. It's not hard to do this by any means, but if you do a similar thing over and over it changes the width of the lines and alters speed and color in interesting ways. It's my background currently and I think it's RAD. Enjoy. Spawn Illuminati and 8GB iPhone first gen.

Day Nineteen

So I thought to give myself that extra little nudge as I near the 25 day mark I'd have a little fun and do something entirely different. So here you go, enjoy. FL Studio 8 and Casio WK-110.

Day Eighteen

I had tried to post directly from ym phone, but i'm having a slight problem so I'll try it again in the near future so I can post on the go. I was at my friend Bri's house and I hadn't drawn anything on this chalkboard in a long time because it had been so long since I'd been there so I had a moment of nostalgia and drew a "self-portrait." Chalk on chalkboard. Enjoy.

Day Seventeen

Im trying to find better inspiration for my daily art. I guess that's the point of the whole project and the challenge of it as well. Here is a seagullsaurus. Prismacolor markers, Micron pens, and HB graphite on Big Lots pad.

Day Sixteen

A good, no, a great friend of mine, Brennon Reed, asked me to draw a tattoo of his name for his friend's leg. I hope this makes him happy because it's a little overdue.

Day Fifteen

This post is late, I know. My internet was turned off yesterday and I just got it back this morning. So here is day fifteen, a couple Spongebob inspired cave paintings.

Day Fourteen

The words are a little illegible but it says "What's going on? I never hear from you and it looks like you haven't slept in days." "Yeah... I can't talk now, my iPhone is watching..." It's a sad story of mental abuse that happens all too often in this country and needs to be stopped. But iPhones are just so shiny and amazing I fear that nothing will ever change... Day Thirteen

Im working on a new font. My inspiration is the Golden Ratio, an idea of perfect proportions. In this case, the height of all the capitals, ascenders, and descenders will be proportionately "perfect" to the height of lower case letters in regards to this ratio. I have been needing a sans-serif-substitute to the regulars for my personal work and this ought to do the job. Adobe Illustrator CS4.

Day Twelve

Today I did a photoshoot for Yeyo Tequila with the new bottle and some colorful mixed drinks. Here are two that I really liked from the 4 hours and over 350 shots, don't worry, there are others I like quite a lot. Canon EOS 30D Digital SLR with EF 100mm F2.8 Macro lens & a few minutes in Adobe Photoshop CS4 for clean up.

Day Eleven

It's a finger puppet!

Day Eleven

Im rather happy with the way this one came out. 1 hour total. Prismacolor markers and Micron pen on my Big Lots drawing pad. The paper actually allowed the marker to move around a bit so it worked similar to watercolors.

Because sidekicks are worthless without utility belts. And because turtle superhero sidekick tryouts are held in the woods. Speed sketch Micron pen on that glorious Big Lots drawing pad.

Day Nine

This goes back to an idea I had a few years ago for a children's story. But it was really just a collection of random thoughts and stuff and made no logical sense so this is where it ended up... maybe i'll figure out how to make it work eventually. Anyways, enjoy. Adobe Illustrator CS4. About an hour of work and a lot of fussing with colors...

Day Eight

Of course the character is slightly exaggerated, but If you saw him, you'd be like "whoa, that's the guy from ian's blog." Trust me. Micron on a Big Lots drawing pad, lol wut?

Day Eight

My scanner is being really dumb so this was taken with the camera on my phone, when I can get a good scan I'll update this post. Enjoy.

Day Seven

Today I worked on a homework assignment for drawing class. It's a self portrait, though I stretched some of the features to make it more interesting (longer nose, bigger right eye, bigger lips, very small ear). I spent about an hour total on it. Compressed charcoal and 2B, 4B, and 6B charcoal pencils on 18x24" charcoal paper. This is my conquistador look, what you think?

Day Four

Today's program is brought to you by the letter nose and the number charcoal. What can I say, It was fun. Compressed charcoal on charcoal paper.

Day Four

Day Three

This one is a little different than the last two but it's polished enough to call a complete work. LG is offering $20,000 for a new smart phone design and this is one of my ideas. I made this from start to finish today, about 4 hours total. I'm not sure if I like the white buttons on the front but I'll repost an update if anything gets changed. The section where the keyboard is currently is a touch responsive area similar to the main screen but it only diplays white through a matte plastic screen. The lower area would display controls for whatever application is open on the top screen. Any thoughts? Suggestions? Adobe illustrator CS4.
